“A Black Gold” series are graphic artworks on paper that reflect our life, which begins and ends with the Word. The lines of our lives are intertwined, forming societies, nations, communities, and social groups. A line is a reflection of flow, and the flow of existence is not even. The idea of the series represents my idea of imperfect, but purposeful progress towards a goal.
Mirrors present us with our essence, each time different, as unique as our mood. Word, like Life, consists of quanta of interaction with our environment, which forms existence as it is. Therefore, existence is a change of color, so gold can become black, and blackness can give birth to gold, consequently, as the result of our efforts.
The Word consists of dots, acting as the gene of language, and the gene is a carrier of memory about the path of our ancestors to perfection in search of perfection. Black Gold is a concise description of our life, which turns from everyday existence into the search for an ideal.
