This series of oil paintings began for me in Lviv when an incredible desire to fly overwhelmed me, leading to the creation of the oil painting "Flying Carpet" in 1995. I saw a very interesting scarf that reminded me of the huge Persian carpet that was in our home. I started to calculate the winding shapes for the painting, to create the illusion of flight on a plane using amazing patterns in one fragment. The work was first exhibited in Vienna in 1998 at the Cosmos Gallery. The desire to continue this creative exploration did not leave me. So, in a museum in Vienna, I was lucky enough to see the original work by Johannes Vermeer of Delft, where the luxurious back of the artist is depicted while working on the portrait of a noble lady. Before me emerged the formed image of the entire collection, in which one could wander, opening the door to the next room. Thus, the material for the works came from various quotes by Anthony van Dyck, Dutch still life, Jan van Eyck, the contemporary American edition of Architectural Digest, and my own observations of nature. The fragment that can be captured as part of a whole in one's memory became the hero of the works and pointed to the whole. Extracted frames from the historical tapestry of art, fluid images reminded me how from afar one can recognize a person without seeing their face, simply from the movement of the body, the peculiarity of the step. Thus, works as rooms-travel emerged on my canvas, allowing me and the viewer to communicate with my painted heroes. The works from the Stanzen series began to intertwine closely with my collection of Flower Gardens.
